tim968
Seeking SIR Tools P234 Arbor Oil Seal for Porsche. Oil Seal Arbor needed for the proper installation of oil seal on flywheel side of crankshaft. Applicable: Porsche model 911 '78-'94, 928, 944, 968. My 928 is doing its Exxon-Valdez impression.... Automatic, with BlackSeaRD driveshaft setup. I figure since 75% plus of 928's are A/T, the SIR tool should work. Thanks, Tim 403.804.7860 Quote Link to comment
malcolm
hi Tim.......I replaced the rear main crank seal as part of the clutch R&R and didn't use a tool to remove or install. Firstly you should know Porsche has various versions of this seal the latest has the outer circumference coating removed to ease install. Derek at the Calgary Porsche dealership has them in stock as they are used in a number of models. To remove the old seal theres a notch in the crankcase where a right sized straight blade screwdriver can be placed, tapped sharply with a hammer so the seal deforms a little then pried out. To install, place the well lubricated new seal over the crankshaft and lightly tap the seal face until its just started then use the old seal inverted against the new seal and continue tapping until fully seated. good luck.
