Reynolds Alberta Museum drive summary.

Good evening everyone ...

Just returned from an enjoyable trip with 7 other WRR members to the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskiwin, Ab.

We departed from Airdrie @ 9:00 am and made our way North on Hwy.#2 under sunny skies. Those with Cabriolets had their tops down and smiles on their faces. We made a brief stop @ the Donut Mill in Red Deer for a code yellow break and a mid trip treat. (more smiles on the kids & adults faces)

We carried on from Red Deer with all tops up .. as the skies became heavy the further North we travelled. We veered off onto Hwy.#2A for a change of scenery from the much too familiar #2 corridor between Calgary & Edmonton.

Upon arrival at the Museum the rain had stopped so we made our way into the museum without getting wet.

The Museum remains as captivating today as I remember from my last visit 20 years ago. It's hard to estimate how many thousands of hours have been invested by countless volunteers to recondition and preserve the Cars, Motorcycles, Tractors, Steam engines and aircraft on display.

After touring both display buildings and the grounds we took time for a light lunch at "Cruizers Cafe" (on site) and a brief stop at the souvenir shop before making our way back to Calgary.

If the museum displays didn't make one feel a little nostalgic, some of the items in the souvenir store certainly did. When was the last time any of you saw a box of Pink Elephant popcorn .. or Cracker Jack?

Thanks to all who took part for an enjoyable day.

Thanks to Rick for leading us and those who participated, for making it such an enjoyable experience. If you have not visited the Reynolds-Alberta Museum (RAM), you should. Excellent day trip from Calgary. An awesome collection in a world class facility. Almost everything is indoors so weather is no issue. Entrance fees and food prices were very reasonable. Stan Reynolds, who has contributed significantly to the collection, appears to have been a very successful petro-head from an early age and has brought into existences a truly special museum combining planes, cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, and other objects of interest. Even the non-auto enthusiast will find something of interest and have a good time. Watch out for the gift shop, lots of reasonably priced temptations in there.

For those of us into European autos, there was even 1958 Mercedes 190 SL to make you smile.
