Best built in detector / jammer install

Does anyone have feedback on the best built in radar / laser jammer set-up to get installed ? Just trying to determine among the equipment available, passport9500ci, AL priority, etc which one to pursue and where to get it installed. Thanks

Hi, I had the 9500's built in installed by Mobile Solution, the Radar has very long range, it once detect a police cruiser in BC 13 second ahead closing in my speed and his both at at least 110 kmh. We went to Florida for two weeks not a single ticket...since this is a built in so it is very clean installation , sometime I forgot I had them.

Another style I am highly recommend is the Stinger ($$$) which is better than my 9500.

You can come to my shop Monday around 17:00 I can show you the Stinger.( we do not supply or install Radar).

Definitely Mobile Solutions if you're getting a shop to do any install work that is beyond your own capabilities.

Now law-abiding citizens & people up on their high horses will tell us to just obey the posted speed limits. I'm not one of those people lol.

If money is truly no object, no option but a full Stinger system. The only drawback is it is so sensitive, it needs to learn & program itself. I don't have first hand experience with the Stinger but have heard/read some people actually returned their units because they couldn't deal with the initial falsing.

Personally I run a bel stir+ (similar to the 9500ci but also allows band segmentation & allows you to run different laser jammers) The bel stir+ is at the end of its life cycle in that software updates aren't possible because the hardware (radar horn) has maxed out its potential.

The 9500ci laser jammers are ok/good but not near the best out there right now. If you spend anytime up in Edmonton, the 9500ci laser jammers can't handle the newer dragoneye lasers. There have also been several reports of the rcmp in Alberta & BC working tandem & shooting laser from behind so cars with just front jammers are still getting tickets.

There is talk of escort/bel coming out with a new version of the 9500ci but I don't expect that will be out for at least a year or two.

I run the AL priority laser jammer system (5 heads- 3 up front & 2 in the rear).

If you to to save some $$ on install just get the jammers installed & run a windshield mounted radar detector.

Though windshield mounted detectors have jumped dramatically in price.

The mack daddy one right now is the passport max 360. The arrows don't response nearly as quickly as the valentine 1 arrows but hopefully further software updates will quicken the response time. Hopefully they'll add band segmentation to the max 360 in the future.

The max2 or max are still great detectors as is the older 9500ix.

The redline has incredible range so it's great on the highway.

If you spend anytime out east where radar detectors are illegal, definitely get a RDD-immune one to Spectre 3 & Spectre 4 (undetectable to the police's radar detector detectors)

There are still devout users of the valentine 1 radar detectors but they false too much in the city & lack the gps databases to warn you of red light cameras & lockout false locations.

If you can get your hands on an escort redline international version, this is a bit better @ detecting the new MRCD being used in Alberta. These are the low frequency/low power photo radar camera vans.

Personally I could probably open a mini museum dedicated to radar & laser detectors/jammers lol. I've been known to run up to 3 radar detectors simultaneously in my vehicles.

Feel free to PM me if you want to check out my system.

Yoon, mobile solution advised me the dragon eye is employed by photo radar so personal I think the 360Max is a good combo when using with the rear license plate " Fash" likes what you had on your car.

The Stinger is very sensitive but you can adjust on the flight thanks to the touch screen you can have setting for 30 kph , 50 kmh 80 and so on....

Wow guys ... I love this club .... fun and helpful people .... thanks for the great responses.

Loc I may pop over and come see your Stinger install ... I need to get something very good if I am interested in maintaining a license -- the GT3 wants to go too fast. It's the car, not the driver .. really.

I have a windshield MAX 360 already, but am going to move that over to my 550i which also wants to speed for some reason.

Last Q - does Mobile Solutions sell and do the Stinger install as well?

thanks again

The Stinger is belong to a customer vehicle (gone) I have max360, 9500ix and bell build-in, all I am happy with.

As I sad before , Dragon has the "no Photo" which when combine with any good radar can be a good system.

Yes the Stinger is from Mobile Solution, very neat: the face plate isdetachable ! Magnet mounted all touch screen so you can customized on the flight, ignore some post that said it is noisy, not true, depend on how your configuration and volume, what I like the best is the British accent voice prompt.

I am one of those devout V1 users, but freely admit I haven't done any recent research to see what else is out there and how it compares. I don't use a detector in the city (speed of traffic plus a smidge), but for what it's worth, it continues to reliably save my bacon on the highway with excellent range ability.

I have noticed however, that it is saving me more and more from Volvo's, Kia's, Buick's and other soccer-mom-mobiles that are coming equipped with radar based lane departure and other electronic nannies (up to 9 high strength radar bogies projecting from a single CUV- simply rediculous). Do the new gen detectors you guys are talking about do a better job of filtering those nanny signals out? I'm guessing they are going to become more and more common.

Good afternoon ...

Though not a "built in" design I too am a loyal fan of the Valentine One detector. Even though this model has been around for quite some time, Valentine continues to improve (evolve) to unit in much the same way the 911 has evolved over its' existance.

Like Ian, I do not use the unit in town ... as there are simply too many radar sources around to provide false alarms. The V1 has had both front and rear facing dectection from very early models and on the highway I have been saved numerous times from police traps both ahead and behind me.

I am likely due to purchase a new unit to take advantage of the improvements and for my needs the V1 should continue to exceed my expectations.

  • 5 weeks later...

Apologies for reviving, and subsequently jumping on the back of someone else's month old thread, but I'm looking for feedback on current windshield mounted detectors.

I've read most of the reviews/performance results of the big players (V1, Redline, Max2, Max 360 etc) and am leaning towards a Redline (likely Pro-A/Int'l for the minimal additional cost), but am also curious if anyone has any feedback regarding the Radenso units, or more specifically, the Pro SE. Also interested to see how the new Escort iX performs.

In addition to the above, do people source their units locally, or use kmph.ca out in BC (or similar)?

Cheers,

Mark R

Hi Mark, Alex @ kmph is great to deal with. The only way to get better pricing than what he offers, is you have to "know a guy". Definitely give Mobile Solutions a shot too as they are a great, local supporter of the club. I also recently picked up a redline international for its touted long range performance & for the odd trip to Edmonton & their mrcd's. So my current stable of windshield mount detectors consists of a v1, max, max360, & a redline international. Edited by dragon

Thanks Yoon.

As it happens, I decided to give the Radenso Pro SE a punt and ordered it online through KMPH at lunchtime. Instantly got pulled into a couple of work discussions after ordering and, to my surprise, by the time I returned to my desk, I had an order confirmation and a tracking number...top marks to Alex thus far, that's for sure!
