Rick
Hello everyone. As of this posting we have 32 cars and 49 people confirmed for this drive. I will update this posting again as I receive additional confirmations. We also have 8 to 10 cars from the VSCCC joining us for lunch in Nanton. They will be taking their own (different) route to the Museum. The forecast remains favourable & +20C, so this should be a great outing. I plan to drive our 993 Cabriolet. There may be an opportunity to take a club picture around the plane. Will confirm this tomorrow. Look forward to seeing everyone Saturday! Rick Edited September 25, 2010 by Rick Quote Link to comment

Rick
Hello again everyone ... I hope all of you enjoyed today's drive as much as I did. We may have set a new record for most cars participating in a single drive as well as most particpants to a driving event. This can only be attributed to good weather, the opportunity to sneak in one more drive this season and a very special occasion at the Nanton Museum. I knew we were in for a good day when I was treated to this sunrise from our kitchen nook window. 33 cars set out from Shawnessy Mall and headed South to Black Diamond We stopped to regroup in Black Diamond and pick up another 3 cars. From Black Diamond we continued South the Chain Lakes Provincial Park were we made a brief stop to stretch our legs and tend to other needs. We then headed East on Hwy.# 533 and enjoyed some beautiful fall scenery on the last leg before arriving in Nanton. After parking our cars in the ball diamond behind the Musem 65+ people from WRR, VSCCC and Nanton Bomber Command volunteers enjoyed a catered lunch. We finished lunch with enough time to take in some of the static displays and video before the two starboard Rolls Royce Merlin engines were started and warmed up. The noise created from 2560 (unmuffled) piston generated horsepower created a lot of excitement with the onlookers. I will post several videos of the Lancaster running and update this thread when complete. Fact: it costs the museum $1,200.00 to run up the engines for 5 minutes at events like today's. Once the run up was concluded our group made their way back home to enjy the remainer of the day. It was a day I'll remember for a long time to come. sincerely; Rick Edited September 26, 2010 by Rick Quote Link to comment
