“Commemorating 50 years of the Porsche 911”

September 6th, 7th & 8th, 2013

Dear Fellow PCA members:

In September of 2013, Oregon Region is hosting an event to commemorate the introduction of the 911 at the 1963 Frankfurt Auto show.

We are inviting members from all of the Regions in Zone 6 to participate in this once in a lifetime event.

With the participation of all of the 911 owners in the zone we hope to gather the largest number of this iconic classic in the Pacific Northwest.

The Skamania Lodge, which is also celebrating its 20th anniversary, is giving special rates to PCA members and we have a block of rooms reserved until 45 days prior to the event.

Registration for this event begins in February 2013 and we will be providing complete registration information in the near future.

We will be updating information and should have the final registration costs for this event in February when registration opens.

If you have any questions feel free to give me a call or e-mail me.

Let’s make this happen!

Thank you for Your Support!

Peter Linsky

Saturday Master of Ceremonies

Peter Linsky’s interest in Porsches probably began in the middle 1960s, when he recalls being passed at high speed by a new 911 on Highway 101 while en route to the Santa Barbara Road Races.

He finally joined the Porsche community in 1980, when his wife suggested that enough of their money had been squandered on racing an old MGB, and it was time for him to grow up and buy a real automobile, which promptly became her daily driver.

Peter has never grown up as far as his longtime interest in sports cars is concerned, but that first Porsche still lives in their garage, which suggests a certain level of maturity.

As his 40-year career in broadcasting was winding down, Peter submitted the first of what would become a long series of feature articles to Excellence, The Magazine about Porsche, and was soon deeply involved in a new avocation, documenting the world’s best sports car.

In short order, his meticulously-researched feature articles also began to appear in other enthusiast publications including: Porsche Panorama, 356 Registry Magazine, Forza, Auto Aficionado, Vintage Motorsport, Pre-war Car Notes, Hagerty's, and The Robb Report, along with RM and Bonhams and Butterfields auction catalogs.

A member of PCA’s Oregon Region since 1980, Peter has held several offices and contributes regularly to the region's monthly magazine, the Anzeiger.

He has twice received ORPCA’s Mark Donohue award, presented annually for outstanding service to the region.

Peter’s knowledge of Porsches and early sports car racing led to an invitation to provide commentary at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion vintage races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California.

Peter and his very patient wife Janice reside in Beaverton, Oregon.
