996 Turbo Coolant Expansion Tank

I'm replacing the radiators on the Turbo and thought if I'm draining the coolant should probably change the coolant expansion tank because it's yellow and looks to be nearing the end of it's life cycle.

After removing the tank it was obvious that this was a worth while project.... the tank has a small leak that developed and several small cracks.

Spoke with the dealership and they had a replacement tank in stock and at a very competitive price!

Small leak at the back of the tank:

Directly below the expansion tank was some coolant leak evidence:

Thanks :)

Another "while your in there" item that was replaced is the big coolant hose that runs below the coolant expansion reservoir. (ended up doing both sides)

A friend's had a catastrophic failure on the track.

The old hose part number starts with a 996, the new hose part number starts with a 997.

At only $43(ish) from the dealer and being easy to change with the tank out, replacing it was a no brainier.
