mrdunlop944
Unfortunately I'm in the market for a used, new to me vehicle. Steph's RAV4 has had a computer malfunction causing 3 gear in the transmission to fail. 8000$ job is what I have been quoted for a reman unit or 5000$ for a junk yard part:confused: I'm not into restoring Toyota Rav4's so this broke down Rav4 will be parted out. Soooo, if you have a second, third or even a fourth vehicle sitting around the house, preferably a AWD SUV or 4x4 truck please let me know. I would like to think Boxster S for Stephy I'm looking to buy ASAP. KMR 968 Turbo
Budget? Year? Make/Model Preference? No sense in sending info on used Cayenne Turbo's if you are looking for a $10k winter vehicle. Was there something specific you had in mind? Want to stay Japanese? Domestic? European? Anything that is a definite no go? Trying to be helpful, not trying to be difficult. Once I get an idea what you are looking for I can ask around. Cheers. Quote Link to comment

mrdunlop944
Guys thanks, I have received a PM and will look into that option. This wasn't ment to be specific...just seeing if someone was looking to sell one of their extra vehicles....I no there some members that have a fleet of vehicles. I guess a price of 20K would have been helpful to mention. So, no Turbo S and the 07 Caymen, well I would probably have to buy that for myself Cheers Quote 84 944 SOLD 85 944/1 85.5 944 Parts car Sold 86 944 SOLD 86 944 Turbo SOLD 88 944S parts car sold 88 924S Sold 88 944 Turbo S SOLD 89 944 Turbo 90 944S2 coupe Sold 90 944S2 coupe Parts car Sold 90 944S2 Cabrio SOLD Link to comment

mrdunlop944
Thanks Brodie, 2 great examples. The only Benz I was looking at so far was the AMG E55 Estate wagon. I've also been looking at Volvo 850R Wagons. I seem to be looking at wagons.. unreal6
Steph would look good in an A4 Avant, safe in winter with Quattro too... An extra $1000 or so can get you a stealth chip on the 2.0 turbos to 250 BHP-ish. nsaleem
Hi Mike. Be very careful with that used car dealer. Really bad reviews online. Google them and you will see. I once looked at a Panamera that they had. Received poor, unprofessional service. Then Googled them from the parking lot and saw BBB complaints, complaints on Rip Off report and so forth. mrdunlop944
Hilarious you say that. All it took for me was a quick drive by to realize I was in for a run around with these guys. I Didn't even want to go into the parking lot.. Thanks you for the heads up. I will check out BBB and read some comments. I'll more than likely head to a actual dealership. Thanks again. DavidM
If you haven’t already, you might want to give Peter Busse, our club Treasurer, a shout. He is in sales at the Subaru dealership and might have a line on something that might be a fit. Quote Link to comment
Bill
If you are still looking you might consider a Subaru Forester, flat four, small SUV. I had one as a rental in California recently and was impressed both with the zip and the handling. Quote Link to comment
mrdunlop944
Thank you all for your response... Long story short. I sent off the ECU to have it rebuilt. Rebuild required upgraded resistors, the resistors help keep tension on the gears and make the auto transmission shift at certain shift points. The automatic transmission shop I took it to said. 8000$ repair bill. He also mentioned he found lots of metal filings in the transmission fluid and 3rd gear was to blame. "towed the RAV4 home" After installing The rebuilt ECU 500$ The RAV4 is back in action. In fact it shifts smother runs better and the check engine light is off;) Transmission fluid change from Toyota dealership. 170$ "Toyota found no filings in the transmission" and I now have this old vehicle back on the road. I thank Google for sending me in the right direction. ErikA
Some good advice I got - a transmission rebuild is a nice money-maker for a shop. One tech can do it. It doesn't take up much time or space. And the sky's the limit for the bill to the customer ...
