Bob Kerr Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 (edited) The BMW Club of Southern Alberta is hosting a driver education event for young drivers. “The primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival (TRSS) is a hands-on driving experience in real-world situations. Students use their own car and learn about its handling limits and how they can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts, too.” The event is on Sunday, September 27 from 8am to 4pm at the Rocky Mountain Motorsports facility just east of Carstairs. Instructors are required to attend classroom training on Saturday, Sept 26th from 6pm to 9pm. The BMW Club has asked us if we can provide 6 volunteers and instructors. Links below for both students (if you have young drivers you’d like to attend) and coach/volunteers. If you do register please remember to complete Speedwaiver when you register. We have had members send their young drivers to this training and it has been well received. Many other PCA regions across North America host these training session. While this is not a Wild Rose Region event we are happy to support the BMW Club with volunteers and instructors, and maybe a few students.
