dwong
Looking at options that make my 2008 911 C2S sounds more sporty. Someone suggested to change to sport exhaust. Anyone would like to offer comments or suggestion? - alternative options? - pros and cons - what to consider? - price range? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
dragon
Depends what your budget is but best bang for buck is the "gundo" mod or hack. You can search for it on the 6speed forums. It's basically a crossover pipe welded between the inlet & outlet on the mufflers so some of the exhaust "bypasses" the muffler. Not many people seem to know about it up here but down south of the border, everyone raves about it. Gives pretty much the same sound as the PSE without the expense. This is purely for sound, little to no performance gain. I was planning to do this to my base 997 but found out I it was already done by the previous owner when I bought it from the Porsche Center as a CPO'd car. Exhaust sound is purely subjective so you pretty much have to hear them in person rather than trying to decipher internet sound bites with your ears through computer speakers. dragon
The other option in conjunction with the gundo mod is an air intake mod: bmc air filter replacement with the silicone hose replacement on the air intake & capping off the secondary port. Definitely wakes up the sound without being anywhere near obnoxious. Edited July 30, 2015 by dragon Quote Link to comment
jeff_k
I am in the same boat. I have decided to find a muffler shop that can do the Gundo hack for me. I will post up when I get it down and the shop that did it for me. Quote Link to comment
dwong
Many thanks, dragon. I did find many forum discussion on this topic. I called up German Car Specialist here in Calgary. They've never done this before. Do you know any local shop who is experienced on this mod? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment

Keith Adams
You could check with this guy - he's out in Langdon and has done many 996 and 997 exhausts. http://www.higherarcing.org/ Quote Link to comment
KMR 968 Turbo
You could check with this guy - he's out in Langdon and has done many 996 and 997 exhausts. http://www.higherarcing.org/ Or you could contact a club member who also owns a 911 and welds custom exhausts for a living. His name is Aryln Gohl and you can contact me for his information. I think on here he goes by the handle RacerRabbit. He did the exhaust on my Ferrari and you won't find a better deal. dwong
Thanks to all of you. I had it done in early August at the German Car Specialist (http://www.germancarspecialist.com). The owner Dennis personally oversee the work, using 2" stainless steel pipe for the bypass. It costs $850 and it sounds really good. Quote Link to comment
