Guest dconnon
now if that last shot was through the antlers of the antelope it'd be a sure win! Quote Link to comment
Guest Tony B
Doug, Not antlers, but I was on the 'horns of a dilemma' as to climbing up through a snow bank to take the shot or walking round the lake for one ! It was at about 10,000ft ASL in the Bears Tooth range in Wyoming last summer. Quote Link to comment
Guest Tony B
The 912 did win 'People's Choice Award' at Ucluelet in May 2010, but the first shot was taken at Keystone Co. and might have been called "Judgement Day at the 2009 Porsche Parade" as a host of judges descended. It was entered in the 'Preservation Touring Class" and was running first most of the day until a locally owned 'fresher' one was found in the historical display. That car had driven about 4 kms to the show site from the trailer drop-off point whereas we had about 1800 km to get there. We got a second in class but had much more fun ! The Porsche badge shot in the rain is the 1969 912 badge. Note the old orange coloured enamel (and wax that should have been brushed off) The Prong Horn happened to be conveniently trotting on the roadside in Wyoming on the trip home from Keystone and the photo 'shot through the branches' was on The Bear Tooth Range just south of Montana. A 912 at 10,000 ft ASL has about 25 effective HP remaining! Very difficult to drive "Porsche like" to say the least ! If the Club tours there in 2011 - go, it's a must. Thanks all those who asked. Merry Christmas Tony Quote Link to comment
