malcolm
928.....by the early '90s Bosch were struggling to have an alternator handle all electrical demands and also fit into the engine bay. New technology can handle everything (full a/c, headlights, radio amps etc) and be small enough. Be interesting if the same unit would benefit other models. Perci
Did the old one die, or did you have some other symptoms? How did you select the replacement? Sounds like a good upgrade. Quote Perci PCA DE Instructor 2014 Cayman S 2000 Boxster S 2000 Carrera 2010 Panamera 4S 1989 928GT Link to comment
malcolm
No didn't die but struggled in very hot temps and at idle/in traffic.....not that I spend much time in big cities, thankfully I also believe the power sucking a/c unit could be upgraded to provide more cooling while being more electrically friendly; Porsche used Nippon Denso units back in the day.
