Rob996
I was at Canadian Tire yesterday and picked up 2 jugs (5L each) of the Mobil 1 0W-40 "European Formula" on Sale for $33.79 each (regular $51.99 each) The store on 130th ave SE had about 30 jugs in stock at the time. 9Elfer
Rob, I have my own take on Mobil 1. I believe it says "European Formula", not "Made in Europe". European made synthetic oils have to be Group IV or V oils (both of these are not derived from petroleum). The North American permits Group III to be sold as synthetic when it fact it is "just" super refined petroleum oil. Canadian Tire sells a 0-40 Castrol which is made either in Belgium or Germany, that one would be my preference. My 2 cents. Marc Quote Link to comment
Rob996
Oils are a topic that seems to have no end and even if the bottles have the same weight on the front there is no guarantee that you are comparing apples to apples. I have worked in the Alberta Oil and Gas industry for the last 20+ years so I am more inclined to purchase an oil that is made a bit closer to home. With the advances in oil tech these days it is getting harder to say if the synthetics are much better if any that the conventionals. Ant to top it of with a savings of almost $20 per jug that is more money I can put in the tank to do my part to burn some dinosaur bones.
