gord66
Hello all! I just moved to Calgary from Winnipeg, and brought along my 1989 Porsche 944S2. The car is very reliable (I drove it 13 hours straight to get here), and generally works well. New tires, brake pads. However, it is obviously an older car, and is not perfect! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to approach the Out Of Province Vehicle Inspection? I am told that it is very rigorous, and deficiencies have to be corrected within 2 weeks...Thanks! Perci
It is rigorous ( to the point of stupid in some cases( failed 914 because of no key for passenger door[emoji33])). The deficiencies don't have to be done in 2 weeks, but you will have to pay full cost again outside of that. I brought in an 07 Cayman that I used the dealer to OOP, and the Husky in Lakeview for my 914 (he was working on an E-Type when I dropped it off). Any of the mechanical sponsors in the newsletter will be good choices as well. If you need help sleeping the Alberta website used to have the OOP manual online. dragon
For what it's worth, I've heard of several people actually using Canadian Tire. They're the "most relaxed" in terms of performing inspections. Quote Link to comment

colesie
Reviving an old thread. I just moved to Calgary from Ottawa. I have a 2009 Cayman S near mint. Looking for a "relaxed" shop to do an out of province inspection. Greatly appreciate any thoughts!! Thanks, Jeff Quote Link to comment
Perci
Why? The cost is mandated and using a good Porsche shop will get you a thorough health check. If you are worried about mods you may have made, the inspection is for safety and road worthiness, not emissions. colesie
Totally agree re thorough health check. I just don't want to be gouged by a shop claiming repairs are needed when they are not. Not an issue at a good Porsche shop I guess. So, maybe that's my question...what is a good Porsche shop in Calgary? Dealership? Other? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
