KMR 968 Turbo
He actually did it. https://jalopnik.com/elon-musk-actually-shot-a-tesla-roadster-into-space-1822776401 The part I find the most amazing was the almost synchronized landing of the two rockets back at the launch pad. Speechless........ PS: I didn't think he meant it when he said his sports car would do 0-60 in under 2 seconds and a top speed over 250 mph. Quote Link to comment
CarreraGT
I have to admit that's pretty cool. I think they only launched a rolling chassis. When the Earth is behind the car you can see the planet through spokes in the wheel for about half of the diameter so there is no motor or even an under tray. And the tires are solid because they did not explode. When I heard about it, I thought he was going to shoot the car into space, loop it around Mars and then return it back to Earth where he would sell the Roadster for enough cash to keep Tesla afloat for another quarter. However it seems like it will be in a heliocentric orbit that will keep the Roadster going back and forth between Mars and Earth for a billion years. CarreraGT
There is irony in this. Given the environmentally friendly message the brand represents on Earth, taking an obsolete Tesla, filling it with stuff and messages to shoot it into deep space is like loading a barge full of garbage and dumping it into the ocean. Tesla just became the first piece of galactic litter thrown out in space and it has Elon Musk's name and the names of every SpaceX employee on it to prove that they did it.
