Season Opener Details!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

The season opener is set for Sunday, May 15th!

The final lunch stop will be at the Symons Valley Ranch at approximately 12:00 pm.

I have just been notified that they are no longer doing Sunday brunches but they are willing to open for us as long as we have enough people participating.

We will order from their menu.

Please reply here if you are going to be coming so I can make reservations!

(As of Friday 6:10pm, there are about 30 people that RVSP'd so far and the restaurant is a-go!)

The drive departs at 9:00 am from Chapters Crowfoot Starbucks.

please check if children can be at Symons Valley Ranch. I made the mistake and booked a lunch stop in Water Valley Saloon and Ian's daughter was not allowed to get in.

I felt very bad, we try to get the young members involved and than they can't have lunch with the group.

As of tonight there are enough people for the restaurant to be open for us. We'll have the whole place to ourselves which will be nice!

This evening, Brodie and I scoured the land for some new and fun roads and we came up with a great route for Sunday. Lookin' forward to it!

I am hoping to make it up from Medicine Hat for this event. I was wondering if someone who is going on the event could PM me a cell phone number in case I get delayed transiting the prairies and then transiting the megopolis of Calgary. I'm 3 hours to downtown, just not sure of exact time to the nether regions of the northwest.

Thanks

Sarah, Callum and myself are in. Might have to make a stop to change little guys diapper along the way. This could be a good opportunity to see which Porsche spoiler would make the best change table lol.

Thanks everybody (especially Danielle for organizing) a great drive today. I have to apologize, Meagan and I had to bail from lunch on the way home, a casualty of those gail force winds.

We got hit with a big gust while already at a slightly elevated speed during a routine passing maneuver, and a piece of the NARP's windshield trim got blasted partially loose. Meagan was able to hold onto the loose end conveniently through the passenger window (the quick thinking trooper that she is), so although bent a bit, it wasn't lost to the road kill gods.

A quick stop in Cremona, some handy dandy duct tape (second most useful vintage car emergency tool to carry after a cell phone), and we were good to go... But I thought it best to call it a day. Hope everybody else had a 'blast' too!

Today was so fantastic, thanks to everyone for coming. There were 26 cars! I loved the surprised looks on the workers faces when all of a sudden 40 people walked into their sleepy little general store!

Thanks all - great day (excepting the hurricane winds). Was good to meet lots of other enthusiasts. Here's hoping that this is the start of a great season on the highways and sideways. And we do have to go back to the store as I already finished my hot pepper jerky - hmmmmmm.

Must say that the drive home against the howling wind was tiring for both me and the little car. But made it home safe and sound.

And Ian - thanks for the tip. Will add the duct tape to the tool box.

Some additional views.
