    Extended trip to Carmel california

We left Saturday morning from Turner Valley on rout to Skamania Lodge in Stevenson Washington and than south to Carmel to participate in a Porsche 912 gathering.
We- meaning Mark and Yvette and Mary my travel companion. We where towing our cars from Canada to Skamania Lodge where we unloaded and stared our holiday.
Skamania Lodge in Stevenson will be our base for a few days. Coming weekend we will join the rest of the 911 people and help them celebrating 50 years 911. Than we will work our self down towards Redwoods where the Winslow family will leave us and go north and we will keep going south.
We have reserved some activities like, Dune buggy tour on the sand dunes on the Oregon sand dunes, a Segway city tour in SanFrancisco and of course some wine tasting. Till now it was nice to have a air-condition in the Cayenne, but now the open windows in the 912 have to do it. Yesterday it went up to 32 C degree. let's see how the 912 will do.

    Till next time

Hi Fritz, Mary (Mark & Yvette)

Sounds like a great itinerary to follow. Would love to drive the Oregon coast some time in a 911/912. Scenery and twisty roads would make for great memories for sure.

Travel safely and be certain to post more pictures when time permits.

Look forward to coffee and catching up when you return.

    cheers!

    Barnsey!

First easy day, we left the lodge around noon and Mark and Yvette and us went on a round trip from the lodge east on the Washington side of Columbia River and than we crossed over onto the Oregon side and took the historic rout 30 and visited a few water falls. Temp rose to 89 degrees F but the temp gauge stayed below the half way mark. Route 30 is an amazing road, lot's of hills and quite some curves and switch backs.
A bit spirited traffic and it made our day.
It's clouding in and cooling off. Tomorrow we are either driving to McMinfille museum or weather permitting up to Mount baker and look down into the crater.

Fritz, I'm jealous! Your picture of the 912 dash with the spaghetti GPS image brings back awesome memories for me of similar adventures, bringing cars home from SoCal. Everybody should have a chance to run a vintage Porsche through the roads down there, a memory never forgotten! Have fun, can't wait for more pictures from your journey.

Ian, I seen the road coming up, on the GPS and was prepared for it. mark took it by surprise. I think I had a better line through the Spaghetti twisted road.
looking forward driving the coastal roads.

Still enjoying our relaxing trip. Yesterday we went to Evergreen Air Museum and seen the spruce goose in its new home.
The museum is amazing and interesting, the Boeing 747 on top of the roof of one building is the starting point for the water slide. To bad it was closed otherwise I would went for a splash
today we are planing to go back to Route 30 and up into the mountains. also if we have time we will visit Air and Auto Museum in Hood River

why are my pictures sideways? Is there a simple solution? I am working on my I pad and not to swift if it comes to
    computers

another great day exploring the surounding area. We left the lodge and drove Historic Route 30 and up to a look out where we where supose to see all mountain peaks. But no luck the clouds where to low and we just seen fog. So we went to hood River and uo to mount hood. The car was running up the hill without any problems. higher up it got colder and thats just what the engine needed. At the lodge at Mount hood we had great sunshine and the mountain range was awsome.
coming down the mountain it was just one spirited drive.
tomorrow will be a lazy day, will see what my friends have in mind, otherwise my partner and I will explore some local
    wineries and fruit stands.

Yesterday we got woken up to two false fire alarm bells in our hotel. In the morning I was a bit off and did not feel like doing much, so we decided to just for a afternoon drive to Classic Route 30 Vintage Porsche museum ( second hand dealer). It's a low key place located in a building with a 50th ice cream parlour.
Today is registration day for the 50 year anniversary and the functions will start.

Rain and low anging cloudes around Stevenson and Hood River, so we desided to drive to hood River and see the WAAAR
museun. this is a museum for cars and plaines and 95 percent of it are in working order. The quite often take a antique palne and take it for a long distance flight and the same with cars. The museum was a privat collection and the owner finally
built 2 hangars and donated it to club for safe keeping with the understanding that the planes and cars will be used. Now other people donate working planes and cars. tomorrow they will have a fly in of 65 planes. to bad we have our event at Skamania Lodge.
Bert and Evelyn arrived this afternoon and joined us for dinner and drinks. We had a relaxing evening in front of the fireplace.
