  1. This was our first autocross since 2018, and the hype was real! Since the location was in Fort MacLeod 2 hours away and we needed to be there at 7:00AM on Saturday to set up, we decided to turn the event into a mini getaway and drive out on Friday evening. 9 cars & 12 people made the trip south and checked in together at Fort MacLeod's finest accommodation. We then walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner & a few pints of locally brewed beer. After a lively evening of laughter, fun and more beer, we settled in for the night in our quaint rooms. The next morning, we walked to a fancy little breakfast bistro down the street to fuel our bellies for the day. A total of 18 cars and about 30 people were there on Autocross day. Everyone helped out and great teamwork ensued as we set up the cones, tents & timing equipment for our 10:00AM start. The morning was organized into 2 groups of cars that did 4 runs each. The groups switched and each got 4 more runs (so 8 runs total for each car in the morning). We logged each car's run time onto a spreadsheet for some good 'ol jolly competition. Everyone followed their own progress as times got faster during the day too. Lunchtime arrived and we had a pizza party in the hangar. Stories were shared, laughter continued. After lunch, we resumed once more with 4 runs for each group x2 (same as the morning). Not everyone could stay late into the afternoon, so after some cars left, there was 1 group remaining who was free to lap to their little heart's content... and they sure did! By the time we packed up, it was around 5:00PM. We decided an ice cream stop was now in order, so the remaining stragglers stopped at Dairy Queen in Nanton for ice cream on the way back to Calgary. My favorite part about being part of the WRR is the camaraderie. The autocross event was essentially a group of friends organizing an event for a group of friends. Everyone helped out to make the day buttery smooth and there was a sense of shared pride among everyone. If you've never been, you must go! I chose not to run a car, but I volunteered/spectated and still had a super duper time. So even if you're not keen on motorsports, it's still worth the trek just to hang with the gang. Checking in at Fort MacLeod's finest accommodation: Lively rev-up party over dinner & drinks: The cutest breakfast joint ever: Bright eyed & bushy tailed at 7:00 AM: Start line: Staging: Fun under the timing tent: Where's the rain??? (We totally lucked out. Was supposed to rain, didn't). The course with yours truly in the foreground, hahahaaaa 😉. Pizza party lunch: Rearin' to go: The old: and the new:

  3. The Grey Eagle Casino has had a few complaints about noise from clubs running autocross / slalom events in their parking lot so regrettably have had to withdraw the use of their parking lot for these activities. My guess is that the noise complaints were not from July 3 becasaue we had no loud cars present. Either way, it's bad for us. An alternative venue (although not available on July 31) is the Deerfoot Mall. They also charge $1000 for the use of the lot so we would have to charge participants to take part. A target minimum participation of 20 cars means a fairly steep $50 entry fee. Who is willing to pay $50 to participate? Is Aug 14 a suitable day to replace this event? Does anybody know of any other venues that would be suitable? Feedback please.
